September 5, 2007:
UPCOMING: Busy MINI days ahead
(and if you don’t know about Josh’s great MINI N.E. calendar, check it out!)
This weekend we have the “one day Ice Cream Run“, in Sturbridge MA - Howards was a stop during The Great Ice Cream Run, and local (and not-so-local) MINIs are meeting on Saturday September 8th for repeat pleasure!

Next weekend is British Invasion; this will be the sixth year that I’ve attended, the second year with GPMINI (but I don’t expect to win anything this year!). This year Mini is the featured marque, so hopefully there will be loads of MINIs there ![]()
British Invasion spans Friday September 14th through Sunday September 16th, with “the main event” on Saturday.

If you fancy track driving, the Lyon-Waugh auto group that owns MINI of Peabody as well as a BMW and Lamborghini dealership (and others) has rented the New Hampshire International Speedway on Friday September 21st - driving the track has costs involved, but there will also be no-cost activities such as an advanced driving skill school, auto-cross style event, and “demo” rides on the track (you donate to the Jimmy Fund and get to be a passenger driven by an instructor!); see this MINI2 thread for more information

If you can’t make the Friday track time, then be sure to plan to attend this years MINI of Peabody OctoberFast on Sunday October 7th. This is an amazingly fun event and is well attended and loved by MINI owners! See here for 2005 (I missed the 2006 event)

And if all that track time and driving fun isn’t enough already … Herb Chambers MINI of Boston is staging their Motorfest 2007 event - download this PDF for info, see their website, or see this MINI2 thread.
Skip Barber will be handling the driving part of this event, so it’s bound to be crazy if it’s anything like the driving during the R56 unveiling that Herb Chambers MINI staged back in the spring!
Before OctoberFast, on Sunday September 30th, is the Lighthouse tour on Cape Cod; I’m disappointed to be missing this, but I’m sure it will be an amazing day for those that can make it.
And just after, on Saturday October 13th, is Come To MAMA V - they say a modified version of the original 2003 drive (see here for my write-up from way back in 2003).

Finally, rounding off the list, we have the second Apple Picking Sundae on Sunday October 21st … read about the (wet!) 2006 event here.

If you own a MINI in North East USA, try to make at least one of these events and say “hi” to loads of friendly MINI owners (and if you live further south, maybe I’ll see you in Florida at the end of September …)
