UPCOMING: The Great Ice Cream Run
Some of you may know already, I’m planning to join in The Great Ice Cream Run next month …
Day 1 - Sanford, FL to Savannah, GA (June 9, 2007)
Day 2 - Savannah, GA to Statesville, NC (June 10, 2007)
Day 3 - Statesville, NC to Staunton, VA (June 11, 2007)
Day 4 - Staunton, VA to Frackville, PA (June 12, 2007)
Day 5 - Frackville, PA to Sturbridge, MA (June 13, 2007)
Day 6 - Sturbridge, MA to Rockland, ME (June 14, 2007)
Day 7 - Rockland, ME to Bar Harbor, ME (June 15, 2007)
Day 8 - MINIsOnTop!
I think that 10 or so MINIs will be doing the whole run from Florida back up to New England, with other MINIs joining for parts of the route.
My plan is to join the route at the beginning down in Sanford, FL, and head up as far as Haverhill, MA on Thursday morning; after that I’ll split off and head home for one night, gathering together any MINIsOnTop loose ends, before heading up to the Town & Country Inn on Friday.
I couldn’t risk putting GPMINI on the auto train (”4 inches of ground clearance”), but I couldn’t take more time off work to drive down to Florida and then back again (especially because of MINI United the following week!)
So, my scheme now is to put the GP into a closed trailer belonging to a friend-of-a-friend (TJ), who is heading down to Florida to pick up and bring some horses back north!
GPMINI will go down a week before me, and friendly MINI owner Joshua has volunteered to store it till I fly in on the Friday …
So, on my journey back from Florida, who will I meet? Who else is hooking up with this “baby MTTS” event? Let me know

I’ll be down in Florida, not sure where exactly, around the time of the start of that event for my sister-in-laws wedding on the 1st. Will need to keep an eye out for a GP and other MINIs.

You’re doing MINI United! I was really tempted to go but couldn’t spare the time. I look forward to hearing your feedback on the event. I’ll probably try and do it in 2009 since the rumour mill has there will be another MTTS in 2008.

No. MOT is on the 16th. MINI United starts on the 22nd.

Ian: We are looking forward to extending some hospitality to all the MINI visitors, please let me know if there is anything we can help you with while your in Savannah. I will be doing the entire trip starting in Savannah and going up to Bar Harbor.
