    Sadly, here in MA our lovely RMV requires both front and rear plates. I’d love to ditch my front plate for aesthetic reasons, not sure how you feel about it, Ian.

    Yeah, many states mandate the front plate requirement (Illinois where I live is one of them). Some police will ignore it, some will use it as an excuse to pull you over and others will simply add it to your list of “violations”. Not worth messing with.

    Having a front plate has never bothered me - maybe because it’s required in England where I grew up

    …and the front plate is such a good light reflector…especially light in the 820 to 950 nanometer wavelength!

    It’s no wonder why more and more states are mandating them.

    My point exactly. It looks terrible and makes you a better laser target. There is no upside.

    There is an upside - you don’t get pulled over for not having a front plate!
