MTTS day 6 - Amarillo to Dallas

First part of the drive today was alone due to my choosing to see how good mileage I can get in GPMINI, and the roads were long, straight and empty:

… But I was passed by a flying GP!

(also coming and going)

At a rest stop I was concerned to see this sign, which I hope I never need to use:

Nice to find 93 octane gas again - at a good price too; and at the gas station I learned that the MINI that had been following me at my slow 65 MPH was a fan, Mac & Leta who regularly visit GPMINI.net while waiting for their GP due later this year:

The Ice Cream stop was wonderful and the car wash was very much needed (see GPMINI.net), but after that, with the 100+ temperatures and terrible traffic in Dallas, I was done!

Hooray for a comfortable room and a shower - and no more traffic for a while!

YuppyVille :( Downstairs in the hotel is color changing walls, too much music, too short tables, suits and short skirts, and nowhere for a casual meal.
Outside, apart from the 100 degrees, the local “restaurants” (eg: Hooters) have queues that look like they’ll last all night.

Result: $50 for room service (for one person!)

Who picked this hotel? city? :(

    IAN,

I’m glad you made it to the car wash and it was nice to meet you! Thanks for answering all my silly questions about your GP. I can’t believe I couldn’t remember the name of the color. The heat must have been getting to me.

I hope the rest of your journey is without trafic jams.

    Cheers,

    Richard

I just read your comment, Ian. Too bad I had to get home and relieve the babysitter. I could have shown you the non-yuppy part of Dallas with awesome casual restaurants with no lines. And I’m not talking about Hooters.

Sorry, couldn’t do anything about the heat or traffic though.

You probably won’t make it through Big D again, but if you do, look me up and I’ll help you through it.

    Richard
