Stress Crack!
I always thought I was immune to this common-on-some-MINIs problem, never having suffered with GBMINI#1 or GBMINI#2 and (until now) GBMINI#3 - just a few months away from four years of MINI driving, but it was not to be ![]()

I’ve seen them changed at MINI Peabody, but now I will get to see one changed on my MINI …

2002….3..1 by road debris …2004….1.. by original owner..2003…1…… Good luck, all mine that were stress crack related were replaced under the warranty. I feel lucky.
I’m still waiting for my engine rebuild to be finished. They have had my car for 1 week and 1 day and I’ve only heard from my SA when I went to dealer. I was promised the car Friday (10th). at the time he promised it I said..”I won’t hold my breath!”
I wish my original SA was handling my car!

Welcome to the club! Sorry to have you as a member. I’ve had two replaced under warranty, and a third one (but the first on that MINI) waiting to be done at the oil service.

looking at your picture its interesting to me that my crack is in exactly the same place but curls the other way, towards the driver side. I wonder if that is an east coast/west coast thing

All my cracks started on the lower left bottom.

interesting, that is virtually identical to a crack I had recently. I didn’t get it replaced under warranty, but I suspect if I’d pushed the issue I may have been able to (I don’t pay for consumables on my car, so not too fussed)

Wow. I have the same crack as well. Got it on the way home from my mothers at Christmas.

Replaced today - thanks MINI Peabody!
