Replacement Windshield

Many thanks to MINI of Peabody - especially Dave who did the installation of my new windshield yesterday, and who also solved the problem with my seat belt getting wet after I washed the car (due to a factory-damaged door seal).

A MINI looks shocking with no windshield!

Much better with a new windshield installed:

How glad I am to have a great local dealership, that carries stock of parts needed and has excellent techs to do the work :)

Wow, I am impressed at how quickly they could get you in, wish it were like that here.

So did they take care of it under warranty?

  3. Ian C. (2006/03/14 @ 10:19 pm)

Yes. There was no evidence of stone damage in the vicinity of the crack.

I would have been worried about them placing all that on my hood and scratching it, but they didn’t when they did my windshield.

I see they allowed the passenger to stay in the car and watch!

    Better a windshield than a new engine…Huh!

I’m having my car brought out to your dealer!!!!!!

Which glass manufacturer was used for your replacement? The OEM Mfg?

    Just curious.

  8. Ian C. (2006/03/15 @ 5:25 pm)

Yes, the OEM glass - I don’t think the aftermarket part is available with the rain sensor.

How has the rain sensor worked? I didn’t get it on my MCS in part because my father-n-law has it on his BMW and has been less than thrilled with it. Curious of another opinion.

I think the rain sensing is an excellent feature - it was (just) available on GBMINI#2 and I definitely re-ordered it for GBMINI#3.

To clarify many peoples confusion - it does NOT turn on the wipers automatically when it rains, but if you select “intermittent” it will automatically wipe only when needed, with shorter or longer gaps between wipes.
A bit more than that - it will also move to continuous wipe or even high speed continuous (when there is a deluge).

It’s really neat to see it for example stop when you go through a tunnel, or speed up when a truck throws spray at you, etc.

    just bought a 2005 mini
    It has a wet seatbelt
I am trying to determine what the problem is?
    Would anyone know?
    Appreciate your help

    Bill

    Bill,
I’ve had the same issue (twice I think!); the dealership solved it by correcting the seal around the top of the door.
