May 12, 2005:
GBMINI#3 earns his stripes
Finally back driving GBMINI#3 again, instead of the rental car; Julian from Sublime Restorations called this afternoon, to say the new bonnet stripes were finished and GBMINI#3 was ready for pick-up. Hooray!

The stripes have come out really well, especially with the silver edging …

Here is a night shot with flash, which highlights the silver edging quite well:

(this is the first time I have had to boost the .jpg quality to avoid a distorted image - sorry for the large file size!)
The “S” on the roof is of course now finished too, but no time to get another aerial shot yet, only this night flash shot (which still shows the .jpg distortion I had to remove from the other night pic)

Ian, you’re right the silver border on the stripe really looks ’smart’, sounds like you’re really pleased…chris

Yay!
Much better with the stripes. GBMINI just looked like a regular MINI without them.
The roof turned out great too! But of course I said that the first time too…please tell us how you feel this time.

The bonnet strips look great Ian. Did you continue the stripes onto the boot? With the roof and bonnet stripes done does it mean you’re finished modifying the outside of GBMINI #3 or is the outside styling still a work in progress?

The stripes look very nice - and that’s coming from a vinyl guy!
I think you made the best choice going with the painted stripes since you wanted the silver to go with your red/black/chrome motif.
I hope to see it in person some day. Maybe my next trip through your area on my way to Halifax we could meet up.
Cheers!

Thanks everyone - yes the “S” on the roof is much better now, and I am happy with it.
My exterior mods continued today with rally lights (could not do that till the stripes were on) - about the only exterior mod still needed is a JCW badge, when it is allowed
