More Chrome for GBMINI
Todays visit to MINI Peabody resulted in the purchase of a chrome tailgate (as fitted to MINI Cooper) to replace the body coloured one (standard on MINI Cooper S). Got a few tips on installation (remove six screws from panel on tailgate interior and remove panel, remove four torx screws, disconnect plug … “refitting is reverse of removal”):

Nice and shiny now for whoever follows me at this weekends Coopers For Caregivers!
Thank you Gary for the installation tips, and Scott for supplying the part …
I also recently bought (from eBay) a chrome antenna mount which fits over the original MINI mount … subtle but fun!

I am still debating chrome mirror caps … just not sure if that is OTT!?

Ian, the chrome tailgate looks nice….I was actually going to get a clear bra strip put on it as I find myself grabbing that portion w/ my thumb when I go to open the boot…even though you only need to use your fingers to engage the mechanism, it just happens out of habit…and w/ all the dust & grit the car gets on the back, I’m fearful of the scratches and stuff….
How much was the part?

Chris,
The official MINI USA price is $73.80. I got mine from MINI Peabody.

Ian…
Looks fantastic. I am a firm believer that you can’t have enough Chrome. Go for the mirror caps. My mini is IB with the UJ OEM decal and I’ve always wondered what it would like like with the chrome caps. Do it.

Ian- my BRG MCS has been transformed by the chrome mirrors alone. They are really a great improvement over the stock white units. It took me a long time to pull the trigger, but now that I have them I wonder why I thought so long and hard about them…I don’t have any other chrome pieces besides the w.washer covers (which you sold me!), but I plan to add the grill and rear hatch handle soon. Good luck!

Looks sharp Ian… I had one put on a few weeks ago. I went to MOP to get my malfunctioning latch looked at. Turned out they didn’t have my color in stock so I talked them into giving me a chrome latch instead.
