MINI Peabody Cares For Keith - upcoming

MINI Peabody has an event planned for Sunday November 13th to raise money for the Care For Keith Trust:
An instructional / gymkana driving event will be held on Sunday November 13th between 10am and 3pm; driving instructors from the BMW CCA Boston chapter will provide instruction / training on MINI handling, followed by a skill drive gymkana emphasising driving control (NOT speed).
Food & drink will be provided and all participating MINIs will be cleaned.
The event will also show off the new Lyon-Waugh group Centennial Park service operation - MINI Peabody is part of that group.

An entrance fee of $50/car will be charged - this fee will go directly to the Care For Keith Trust; specially designed T-shirts will also be available for purchase with profits from them going to the trust.

To sign up, please contact Martin Hansberry (MINI Peabody General Manager) by email.
IMPORTANT: It is essential that you email Martin if you plan to attend - an accurate head count is needed for planning food, space, etc … thank you.

Glad to see Martin made reality out of his idea he expressed to me a while ago.

Will they also allow non-participants to attend and spectate?

    Josh,
It has been proposed that non-participants may attend - but they must still contact Martin to be included in the count, and they are requested to make a $20 donation …

this may be a stupid request, but could you explian what “gymkana” is.. sorry, I’m just not “in the know”

This definition is closest to my understanding - and apparently I spelled it wrong!
Similar to a horse show, riders show their skills in obstacle courses, races and relays. Often gymkhanas are aimed at kids and ponies with the main focus being fun and horsemanship

News just in from Martin …
Please have people make the $50 checks out to The Keith Polishchuk Special Trust

Gymkhana is sort of like an autocross but empahsizes alot more style than precision. Picture an autocross course with alot less cones :) The most simplistic gymkhana course is a basic 2 cone figure 8 with a stop box. They’s say something like ‘loop the first cone 180, loop the 2nd 360 then go to the stop box’

So you’re goal is to simply do that. Rather than going down a cone infested autocross course, it’s much more open to interpretation. It’s much more fun than autocross in my opinion
